I think Boon Prots are maybe still viable if you have a PvE and can run a sup, or roll a PvP and buy a Minor from the trader to swap in if you get DP.

The boon nerf kind of hurts, and with it I can actually see Dom mesmers making a comeback. Dual enchant strips could really hurt with Boon recharging in 10 seconds, and we all know what E-denial does to Blessed Light monks.

at least they didn't touch the inspiration line. then boon would be royally screwed.

it is quite nice to hear that one elite's crucial change can make a whole profession class useless. As you mentioned, ANET seems to be very aware of that for quite a while now

/Sarcasm

I am wondering if boon nerf is going to promote paragons from nightfall for similar healing usage.. just wondering, not aware of that class very well. Waiting to make one of each dervish and paragon when nightfall is released.

PS: I still love the new background for the Login/Character selection screen.

I really love the buffs to the restoration line. Time to farm some more glad points with my restoration Rit.

Solution make pvp chars able to have more than one set of armour. Update that please Anet cause my pve monk has got a rubbish name.

Quite upset about the boon nerf, dont think thumpers will be too much effected. Noticed that anet are looking to buff ele's damage and should start seeing than more used (still some time away) for anything other than support characters.

Eviscerate also my favourite skill - shame about that nerf but doesn't hurt to much.

Ritualists are annoying - dont care.

Assassin - very nice to see them buffs. Well needed may start playing one now.

Images of remorse and conjure phantasm - easy to spread degen, deserved a lil nerf.

Purge signet buff FTW

The nerf on boon is a hard one. Tested it extensively and I dont like it:

First the reduced healing output: from 73 to 63 on DF=16... thats an heavy punch. Its so much that i am almost begin to wonder if the old boon-healing (with major disadvantage overhealing) might be an option.

The recharge makes it very dangerous to CoP or valuable to double strip. A mesmer that is paying attention and strips it right after you reapplied it... a gap of 10 seconds is a lot without proper output.

Of course we saw this comming (although the heal nerf suprised me a lot) and my BL was already in training still its a shame... and hopefully not the end of an era...but i think the 14th of september will be known as the burial day of one of the greatest builds ever created

If you consider the important role of Ether Prodigy and the role of Eles in PvP, yes, any crucial change would defeat their purpose.

You can run dual-attuned HP "spamming" if you want. =)

That is exactly why i said about ANET being aware of it, and yet keeping eles dependent on e-prodigy for most purposes, otherwise duals. In other words, 2 Elite E-Management skills

Funnily enough, boosts to these pitiful ele elites makes them all the more laughable. Hehe, I'd still use Obsidian Flame, armor ignoring AND non-elite... Ok Mind Shock looks semi-useful on flashbot IF you could afford to throw prodigy away. Which you can't... And oh, enchantment stripping aside, dual attunes needs an elite too...

And, oh, why would you run dual-attuned HP spammer?

This is great news for my elementalist. Ether prodigy got nerfed, and getting interrupted is now easier than ever!

Leech Signet: decreased recharge time to 30 seconds.

i'm thrilled with that. 25s cooldown would be better but what can you do.

the nerf to divine boon is nasty. i suppose anet doesn't want us to rely on the monk class so heavily.

the minuscule nerf to axeintheface eviscerate is a joke. it's still the killer, so why touch it at all.

i totally agree with smite. why even bother? it was just ok before. now it's shite again.

I'm guessing this is the big pre-Nightfalls nerf everyone's been expecting... I'm going to stick the the professions I know/use in PvP

Monks- I have always been partial to my WoH or BL PvP build over Boon Protector because of energy management issues (outside of Mantra of Recall). But I do feel that the nerf was unnecessary in the fact that the BP build was not unfair or overpowering in any way and was easily countered by disenchantments and "good" disruptors. GL to all you BP'ers out there who will be switching back to BL or WoH builds if the nerf gets to ya, sorry it happened.

Warriors- As a former IWAYer myself I can see the obvious direction Anet took with this one. Eviscerate is a wonderous skill, and will still be the skill of choice even with the lowered dmg, but they made an effort. Tiger's Fury probably needed to be lowered... As for you bunny thumpers out there, I am "glad" they nerfed IB, but IMO it wasn't quite enough. Haven't been up against any post-nerf thumpers yet, but I'm guessing not much has changed other than the fact that IB will kick my butt just a lil less than usual. (lets buff Guardian some more...heh?)

Assassins- Wow, I really didn't see this one coming. The overall BUFF is nice, but seems to be a little too much. A lowering of combo skills recharge time, increased dmg, lowered energy cost. I love my assassin even more now, but I am going to hate going up against them with my monk. Heck even my tank will hate them if they ever start realizing what Wild Blow is used for (*wink*). A deserved buff, but I have a feeling some of it won't last long when Sin's start getting off dual combo's (with low recharge) and single handedly spiking "average" monks---> Ward against Melee FTW!

the boon nerf is pretty harsh. however, we might begin to see the resurgence of the GoH boon prot, because they can still heal pretty well without using divine boon. the extra healing from GoH might make up for the healing nerf to divine boon as well.

The change to shadow of haste might turn out to be interesting. The longer duration could make it a viable non-elite version of AOD. As long as you have a cancel stance (such as dark escape) you can pull out of any situation at any point. This might open up the route for using all those other elites, such as shroud, temple strike, etc, which might shake things up a bit. Time will tell though.

Nice buff to temple strike and assassin in general. The mind skills are still very much crap as they all cause exaustion. If they just removed exaustion off them people might use them.

Uh-huh. Just might. A 100 damage at 25AP for 5 energy plus a knockdown isn't overpowered at all.

It's always exciting to see what the new skills do to the state of the game.

Here are my very un-educated predictions on monk/mesmer metagame, so flame me:

Restore Condition will become standard on monk secondaries in a balanced build. That, because tainted flesh will become almost standard by the extinguish nerf.

Mantra of inscriptions. SoJ spike, signet of humility, leech signet - nuff said.

Channeling healers will surface - the elite? Energy drain. Heal other, spirit bond/prot spirit, mend ailment, healing touch.

Heal party stays exactly where it has been.

Migraine will resurface as CoP falls. I'm not saying it'll be any good...

Overall, mesmer presence increased - thank the gaming gods.

Warriors:

frenzy/dash, perhaps w/palm strike?

Eviscerate: perhaps Anet wanted the metagame to shift to other elites? Unlikely, unless they have a whopper planned for nightfall.

Bull's charge - great snare, now perhaps the greatest warrior snare.

Any other bold predictions out there?
